The Metropolitan Council and other agencies last week approved funding that fills a gap in the Southwest light rail project, a train that would run from downtown Minneapolis out to Eden Prairie.
That funding was a way to keep the project alive while an state lawmakers remain at an impasse. A disagreement over Southwest light rail plan was the hiccup that kept several items from passing this year, including a overall transportation, bonding and tax bills.
