The A Line rapid transit bus service has helped increase ridership in the Snelling Avenue corridor by more than 35 percent in its first month, according to Metro Transit.

The A Line bus began operation June 11 in a corridor that typically provided about 3,800 rides a weekday. In its first 30 days, average weekday ridership was nearly 4,300 on the A Line, plus about 850 on the traditional Route 84 bus, according to Metro Transit, for a total of nearly 5,150 rides a weekday.

The A Line connects a Blue Line light-rail station in Minneapolis to a Green Line station in St. Paul and Rosedale Center in Roseville, providing express service on Ford Parkway and Snelling Avenue along the way. It’s faster than the Route 84 bus because it makes fewer stops and because passengers pay before boarding, like they do for light-rail service.
