Training opportunities

The 2026 Regional Solicitation includes new investment areas, application categories, scoring measures and criteria, and application platform. To support applicants with these changes, the following trainings are being offered throughout the application period. Check back often for updates. 

Metro Cities overview

Metro Cities is hosting Metropolitan Council staff for a hybrid event to share details about the 2026 Regional Solicitation, including an overview of the changes made for the 2026, application requirements for the new Active Transportation Solicitation categories, and answer questions from potential applicants.

Regional Solicitation overview

The Metropolitan Council will host a virtual workshop to provide an overview and answer potential applicants’ questions about the competitive Regional Solicitation process to award approximately $240 million in federal transportation funding.

Topics will include: 
  • Regional Solicitation process, policies, and schedule 
  • 2026 investment types and application categories 
  • Federally funded project development requirements

Active Transportation Solicitation overview

The Metropolitan Council will host a virtual workshop to provide an overview and answer potential applicants’ questions about the Active Transportation Solicitation process to distribute up to $24 million annually for active transportation initiatives, funded by the regional transportation sales tax.

  • Active Transportation Solicitation process, policies, and schedule 
  • 2026 investment types and application categories 
  • Regionally funded project development requirements

Community Considerations webinar 

One of the ways applications to the Regional Solicitation will be evaluated is through the new Community Considerations measures and criteria, which assess how projects center the communities that live near, adjacent to, and/or will be impacted by the future project. The virtual webinar will provide an overview of the three Community Considerations measures – community data and context, community needs and future engagement, and community benefits – and explain how they will be scored. This session will provide applicants with guidance and examples to help prepare applications, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.

  • Examples of low, medium, and high scoring applications
